We use mostly Indonesian bamboo. The main types of bamboo that you can find in Indonesia are bamboo Petung, Tali, Duri, and Pancing.

Our bamboo is primarily sourced from reputable farms in Bali and Java. We ensure that the bamboo is responsibly grown and harvested, prioritizing environmental sustainability. The material is procured from certified factories that adhere to high standards of quality, particularly concerning the treatment of bamboo, ensuring the material’s longevity and durability for our projects.

For bamboo structures, the choice of roofing materials varies, depending largely on the specific design requirements and location of a structure. Traditional thatch or reclaimed wood, is commonly used due to its natural insulation properties and aesthetic harmony with bamboo. However, modern alternatives like eco-friendly composite materials or copper shingles are also options, offering longer life and better resistance to elements while still complementing the natural aesthetic of bamboo structures.

Bamboo structures, when properly treated and maintained, are highly durable and well-suited for Bali’s tropical climate. We use advanced preservation techniques to protect the bamboo from pests, moisture, and UV exposure, ensuring the longevity and resilience of our constructions. With regular maintenance, bamboo buildings can last for decades.

Applying a new finishing layer to both the structural and interior bamboo surfaces every 2 to 4 years enhances their durability and keeps them looking their best.

Though we currently rely on these local factories, we aspire to establish our own treatment facility in the future to have even greater quality control.

Our goal is to use locally sourced materials which depend on the project’s location because we believe doing so is crucial to achieving ecological balance and harmony in design. These can include bamboo, reclaimed wood, rammed earth, limestone, cob, bahareque, bricks, mud, and occasionally concrete.

Our designs focus primarily on two things; the project’s environment and the client’s needs. Analyzing the space and context is fundamental, so we embrace local building techniques, materials, and regulations, blending our work with artisanal craftsmanship and legal compliance. Our projects aim to be thoughtfully integrated into their surroundings, achieving a lasting positive impact.
