Earth Villa

Villa Earth is envisioned as a landscape sanctuary in Uluwatu. The design is guided by the concept of grounding, inviting us to connect with the earth and discover a space dedicated to integration and grounding.

Designed to feel safe, calm, and present, the structure rests gently upon the local topography. We studied the site’s layers extensively to understand the territory and adapt our building approach, ensuring the villa acts as a natural extension of the land.

The building’s surroundings are filtered through shadows, softening the sunlight and stabilizing a comfortable microclimate that invites the user to take a pause.

Its architectural layout is based on the concept of conscious transition. By avoiding right angles, it creates space for forms that speak to the site. The villa expands through structural curves that define a journey guided by walls and pathways, drawing the spatial experience inward.

Featuring a two-bedroom layout and a built surface area of 207 m², the villa stands out for its tectonic character. The primary structure is built with structural Black Bamboo arches (Gigantochloa atroviolacea), combined with high thermal mass materials such as rammed earth, local limestone, textured lime plaster finishes, timber, and bamboo. These components provide the project with superior acoustic insulation while allowing the entry of natural light that casts rich shadows, consolidating a tactile space deeply rooted in the earth.
