Hideout Flow

Flow Villa is hidden in the mountains of East Bali, Indonesia, far from city life and embraced by the lushness of the eco-resort getaway Hideout. Surrounded by a river and dense tropical vegetation, the villa is constantly enveloped by the sounds of flowing water, birds, and insects.

The design emerged from a shared vision to embody movement and fluidity. Two intertwining curves form the roof, resting upon sets of tall bamboo pillars that frame views toward the landscape. The natural strength, flexibility, and lightness of bamboo made it possible to achieve these organic forms, ensuring that the architecture remains in harmony with its environment.

Spread across two floors, Flow Villa was designed to foster both connection and retreat. The ground floor unfolds as an open, playful space that invites togetherness. A kitchen, a pool, and a sunken living room filled with natural light open directly toward rice fields and jungle, creating a seamless dialogue between indoors and outdoors.

Sleeping spaces are conceived as enclosed nests, offering privacy and comfort while maintaining a dialogue with nature. Curtains keep insects away yet allow the surrounding sounds and atmosphere to flow inside. The upper floor shifts to a more contemplative tone, with reading lounges, a desk overlooking inspiring views, and a central bamboo bed. Here, guests find moments for reflection, stillness, and connection to the environment.

To reach the bathroom, one steps across stones over water, a gesture that reinforces the villa’s seamless integration between architecture and nature. Every detail was crafted to offer a unique experience, an exploration of bamboo in its many forms, intertwined with natural materials and the spirit of place.
