Solana Yoga Shala in Ubud was conceived as a sanctuary for yoga, retreats, and experiences centered on nature, healing, and connection. Designed to feel both expansive and light, it opens to the surrounding river and the dense vegetation that surrounds it. The form draws inspiration from the lotus flower, rising from the earth and unfolding toward the sky. Its roof opens outward like petals, a quiet biomimicry that embodies a sense of calm balance.

Currently under construction, the structure is built entirely from bamboo. Arched beams rise from the ground and connect through an interwoven system, forming a unified shell. This grid-like structure provides strength while allowing openness, so the shala seems to float lightly above the slope. Columns are placed only where essential, preserving uninterrupted views toward the river.

Rather than shaping the land to fit the building, the design allows the terrain to guide it, keeping the natural contours visible and alive. Bamboo was chosen not only for its ecological and cultural significance but also for its ability to express organic forms with precision and lightness.

Inside, the space feels open yet grounded. A calm environment where yoga, meditation, and gatherings unfold in harmony with the surrounding landscape.
