Tree House

The Treehouse, a unique suite at the boutique hotel Stonehouse, is nestled in the heart of Ubud, Bali. Surrounded by lush jungle on either side and rice terraces in the front, its design seamlessly merges architecture with the natural environment, highlighting the deep connection between space and nature.

Standing five meters above the ground, this structure is supported by bamboo pillars, creating the sensation of being level with the treetops. The room is designed to be completely open to the outdoors, protected by a grid-shell roof of bamboo splits that gains strength from its double curvature and is finished with copper tiles.

The interior floor, made of bamboo splits, flows smoothly into a wooden terrace. This design choice creates a seamless transition between the indoors and the outdoor terrace while still forming a single, unified space. Inside, the design features a handcrafted bamboo circular, nest-like bed, handcrafted by the artisans in Pablo Luna Studio. This bed offers a sense of protection and privacy for sleeping while keeping the space completely open to the jungle. The bathroom is a cave-like space constructed with walls of dried banana leaves and a bamboo grid-shell.

Every detail of the Treehouse is crafted to be an experience, an organic and one-of-a-kind space for those who want to meditate and relax, fully embracing the stunning cultural context and scenery of Bali.
