Yoga & Spa

Located in Ubud, Bali, the Yoga & Spa is a sacred space designed as an extension of a family home. Designed and built for the practice of yoga, spa treatments, dance classes, art and ceramics workshops. The building’s design represents the intersection of three circles, symbolizing the interaction between physical, mental, and spiritual practices.

Inspired by the fluid movements of the local flora and the practice of yoga, the architecture features expressive bamboo arches that serve as the main structure. These arches open up to views of the rice fields, palm trees, and river that surround the site.

In the central circle of the first floor is a core of polished concrete walls adorned with arched windows with metal frames and bamboo details. This multifunctional area hosts massage sessions, dance classes, and art workshops. On one side is the semi-open pottery area dedicated to both creative work and teaching. On the other side, a semi-open bathroom made of polished concrete with a bamboo structure, surrounded by plants, completes the first floor.

A spiral bamboo staircase connects to the second floor, where the Yoga Shala is located. Adopting an open-plan concept, completely open to the outside, its perimeter features bamboo arches that frame 360-degree panoramic views, fostering a deeper connection with the surroundings. The ceiling stands out for its combination of black and yellow bamboo and a central skylight, while the floor, meticulously handcrafted from bamboo strips, surrounds the entire room.
