Philosophy

Philososphy

Our architectural design philosophy consists of 4 main elements: Biomimicry, the Environment, Tri Hita Karana, and Sustainability. These components create a mindful foundation for all of our work and inform our decision-making throughout the process. By allowing such philosophies to guide our architectural practice, each project successfully co-creates with its physical, cultural, and spiritual surroundings generating a positive environment for its inhabitants.

The biomimetic architecture uses nature’s wisdom, replicating and imitating the behavior of biological organisms to solve human problems and overcome technical boundaries. This is reflected in our structural systems and understanding of the ecosystems in which we work, reflecting our bamboo architecture with its organic forms.

The natural world sustains itself through its ever-evolving design. We marvel at its ability to adapt, grow, weather storms, give back to its surroundings and interact with other species harmoniously. When designing with the intent to provide an ecological lifestyle, we find answers in nature.

BIOMEMESIS

SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability to Pablo Luna Studio is the ability to achieve economic prosperity maintained through time while protecting the planet’s natural ecosystems and providing a high-quality service for our clients.

We consider all elements of sustainability, including economic prosperity, positive social interaction, technological aspects, and the health and longevity of our clients and buildings.

TRI HITA KARANA

Our designs reside in the Tri Hita Karana – the philosophy of the culture of Bali, Indonesia, which promotes harmony between people and nature, life, and spirituality. Our projects aim to open the user’s gaze, inviting abundance and prosperity, creating spaces in which nature, whether in light, wind, trees or others, shelters us and enables us to see all that unites us and dilutes what separates us.

Within our work, Tri Hita Karana can be found within the feminine, curvilinear structure that eliminates hierarchy and celebrates unity, dissolving the idea of the “I.” The form of organic bamboo possess the quality of the opening and expands naturally, appearing flexible and retaining movement once still. Organic architecture has the power to influence its users’ engagement with the space, with others in it, and with the experience of nature around them.

At Pablo Luna Studio, we believe that architecture creates an environment where the user is offered a space designed to align their mind, body, and soul to a vanishing point.

We work to understand the unique cultural, social, and environmental context in each space. By embracing local properties, our architecture encourages unity while inspiring individual growth.

Environment, formed by natural and artificial elements, interrelated, and modified by human action, outlines our work. We are inspired first by the people who make up the community where our projects take place, and then by the flora and fauna of the site. Inspiration stems from knowledge of these social, natural, and cultural systems unique to each society.

ENVIRONMENT

TRI HITA KARANA

Our designs reside in Tri Hita Karana promoting harmony between people and nature, life and spirituality. Our projects aim to open the user’s gaze inviting abundance and prosperity. Spaces where nature, whether in the form of light, wind, trees, or others, shelters and empowers us to see all the things that unite us, and dilute those that separate us.

Within our works, Tri Hita Karana is found in the feminine, curvilinear structure that eliminates hierarchy, and celebrates unity, dissolving the idea of “I”. Organic forms possess the quality of naturally opening, and expanding, appearing flexible, and retaining movement once still. Organic architecture has power to influence it’s users’ involvement with the space, others within it, and the experience of the nature surrounding.

In our works we believe architecture creates an environment in which the user is offered a space designed to align their mind, body, and soul, to a point of disappearance.

Biomimetic architecture uses nature’s wisdom, replicating, and imitating the behavior of biological organisms to solve human problems, and overcome technical boundaries.
In our case this is reflected in our structural systems and a deep understanding of the ecosystems in which we work.
