Portobello Mushroom Villa

Project Name: Portobello Mushroom Villa
Typology: Residential
Size: 100 m2
Location: Bali, Indonesia
Year: 2020

Portobello Villa sits on the top of a hill equipping an occupant of the space with an approximate 180 degree view of the landscape. The structure uses the proportions of the portobello mushroom, inspired by it’s natural ability to cohesively integrate itself in the landscape, as well as at an enlarged scale, implementing shelter and comfort. The rhythm of the rings, repeated throughout the structure, frames the beautifully overwhelming panoramic view, allowing oneself to understand the ratio of their human scale in relation to space. This experience is grounding as it creates a mental awareness between oneself and their surroundings, as well as nurturing the ability to connect inwards.
